As I’m sure all of you know by now, I have been given the honor by the voters of the second congressional district to represent the Democratic Party in the Fall election for Congress. While I still have a campaign to run, it’s likely that I will be departing for Washington, DC in January. It is an awesome responsibility, but also an exciting opportunity for me, and I am looking forward to it every day.
As a result of this major change in my life and work, and the rules Congress has made for its members’ outside activities, I have made the difficult decision to suspend publication of the Jared Polis Foundation Education Report (JPFER) after six years. This Fall 2008 edition will be the last.
The JPFER was one of the first programs of the foundation, and one of my favorites. Over the years, we have highlighted many of the wonderful, creative programs teachers and administrators have developed for Colorado students. We have passed on important developments at the state level to educators, and provided an instrument that has hopefully brought the entire Colorado education community a little closer together and more effective. It will be hard to see a Spring or Fall go by without a new report!
My interest in improving public education in America remains as strong as ever. But I am off to work on the problem from a slightly different direction. I am humbled by your response to past education reports, and thank you for all the work you and your colleagues do for Colorado’s children.
With Respect,

Jared Polis, President & Founder
Jared Polis Foundation
