Every year the Jared Polis Foundation honors 15 Colorado public school
teachers during National Appreciation week in early May at the annual
awards ceremony. Parents, students, principals and colleagues are
welcome to nominate a teacher for one of the 15 awards. The honorees
are chosen in early April, and each honoree receives a $1,000 discretionary
award and his/her school receives a $1,000 operating grant. The Foundation
will begin accepting nominations for its 2009 Teacher Recognition
