Gina Nocera is the Executive Director of the Jared Polis Foundation.
She joined the Jared Polis Foundation in 2004 as the Education Program Director. In that position, she spent more than two years working on education issues. In May 2006, Gina was promoted to the Executive Director position. She focuses on managing all of the programs within the private operating foundation, which include the teacher recognition awards and the technology mini grants. Gina also provides support to the New America Schools and the Academy of Urban Learning; she is a board member for both charter schools, which were founded by the Jared Polis Foundation in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Gina also manages the foundation’s donor-advised fund at The Community Foundation of Boulder County, which awards grants to Colorado nonprofits focused on education, environment, health and diverse/healthy communities.
Prior to working with the Jared Polis Foundation, Gina worked at the Colorado Small Schools Initiative (CSSI) at the Colorado Children’s Campaign as their managing director. She has also taught both middle and high school English in the Telluride School District and the Boulder Valley School District. Her experience in non-profit organizations includes working as an associate director at the National Wildlife Federation in Washington, DC.
Gina sits on several nonprofit boards, including New America School-Colorado; New America National Network; New America College; Academy of Urban Learning; Community Computer Connection; and Impact on Education.
Gina has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Colorado at Boulder. When she’s not working, she’s either running on the foothill trails or running after her twin girls.
